Fast and Fabulous – God’s Art Through Flowers

Well… it’s Monday … are you in a food coma from Sunday’s Easter Dinner?… Luckily I am Weight Watching (ha ha sometimes I do more watching my weight go up instead of watching what I eat) and I thought I would stamp out the Monday Grumpies by making a beautiful card to get my heart in the right place!!! How many of you got the Monday Grumpies?  Well… it was hard to get grumpy while making this card and it was really quick… so grab your four petal flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch pack, a sheet of basic pearls and your Designer Frames embossing folder and let’s get our hearts in the right place :)…

Do you ever realize that when God does Art it is on something REAL?  People, Animals, Plants, Sea Life… these are real living things and God is quite an artist isn’t he?  Just to even look at the beauty in each petal of a flower is amazing… so let’s see if we can create beautiful flowers today… little tiny ones that melt your heart…

Ok set your timers because this card is going to be really quick!!!

1. Cut pool party cardstock 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″”… fold in half (4 1/4″) so that you have a SQUARE vertical card.  Use a bone folder to fold – it looks nicer…

2. Punch 10 tiny four petal flowers using very vanilla cardstock.  Using a sponge dauber inked with pool party ink, lightly sponge each petal of the four petal flower.  Sponge both sides of each flower this way.

3. Take one of your favorite phrase stamps – I used a stamp from the 126702 – Trust God stamp set –  and stamp the phrase on very vanilla cardstock using pool party ink.  Punch the phrase out using the large oval punch.

4. Take your oval designer frame and emboss the oval so that it is horizontally centered and towards to top of the card front.

5. Make a bow out of pool party Seam Binding Ribbon and attach a small antique brad to it.  Leave about 4 inches of ribbon for each tail of the bow.

That’s it… now assemble the card!  (see I told you this one was easy breezy!)

6. Assemble the card:

-Using a glue dot or two, place the very vanilla oval shape that has your phrase stamped on it into the oval embossed shape on the card front.

– Using a few glue dots, place the bow towards the left top of the embossed oval on the card front.  Place three glue dots spaced evenly on the top of the oval embossed shape.  Take the right bow tail and ruffle the ribbon and attach ribbon to each glue dot, ruffling as you go.  Place three glue dots spaced evenly on the bottom of the left side of the embossed oval.  Take the left bow tail and ruffle the ribbon and attach ribbon to each glue dot, ruffling as you go.  For the left tail, you can use one more glue dot and fold tale backwards as I did to create a billowy look…  this will also balance out the cluster of flowers you will have…

Hint:  Go here and watch this video if you are still confused how to do the ribbon:  http://blog.ribboncarousel.com/2012/09/spotlight-tutorial-ruffled-ribbon-jak.html

– Using your scoring stylus tool, press down on the middle of each of the 10 four petal flowers and fold up the four petals so that they are around the scoring stylus tool… this gives the flowers dimension…

– Using the glue dots, adhere each four petal flour to the right bottom side of the oval.  You can arrange the tiny flowers so that they do not look too clustered together…

– Now for the magic – ready – take your dazzling diamond adhesive glue and delicately dot a word you want emphasized on your oval stamped phrase.  I delicately dotted the word God’s and the word art for my card.

– Take your dazzling diamond adhesive glue and delicately dot the inside of each of the 10 tiny four petal flowers.  Let the adhesive set for 2-3 minutes.

– Take the smallest pearls from your basic pearls sheet and place a small pearl in the middle of each of the 10 tiny four petal flowers.  I only did 8 and left two with just dazzling diamond adhesive glue to add dimension a bit.

– Let dry for a few minutes – then using the corner rounder punch, round off each corner of the card…

Here’s what my flowers looked like:

Voila – You are done!

Inkspirations:

– Make an envelope for the card, use the oval designer frame embossing folder and emboss where the send to address would go…  use a scallop border punch to make the top envelope edge look fancy!

– Add a small vellum butterfly to the cluster of flowers…

– Color in the pearls before you place on card to add more dimension…

Enjoy and hope YOU can try this one… it is very easy and quick…

That is a beautiful card, Marie! It helped me get over my Monday morning grumpies by just looking at it. I’m working out my grumpies by cleaning up all the paper mess in my office and stamp area.
