Fast and Fabulous – Vintage Mother’s Day Card

When I think of mom I think of vintage wall paper, pearls and lace and I wanted to make a Mother’s Day card that reflected my memories of my mom… She is the most amazing woman I know and she has been through so much… from raising a prodigal kid like me to being alone now with my father’s passing a few years ago.  There have been so many changes for her that I just wanted to give her something that would take her mind off all the changes and just enjoy a slice of heaven…

Take a look at the following tutorial from Deb Valder to get an idea of how to make the dress form – it really is a collage of ripped papers that you glue together and then cut out the dress form shape with your big shot…

Also to do this and not get adhesive all over the place, you may want to grab your 127853 – silicone craft sheet – it’s the best $5.95 I have spent in a long time… if you don’t have one – you can get one here.

Believe it or not, this took me about 30 minutes to make!:

1. Cut calypso coral cardstock 4 1/4″ x 11″… fold in half (5 1/2″) so that you have a vertical card.

2. Cut calypso coral cardstock 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  Using the larger oval in the Oval Framelets dies, cut out an oval.

3. Cut so saffron cardstock 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  Using the medium oval in the Oval Framelets dies, cut out an oval.

4. Cut the natural composition specialty designer series paper 3 3/4″ x 5″.  I used the one that looks like vintage wall paper… be creative and try different styles here…

5. Cut very vanilla cardstock 5 1/2″ x 2 3/4″.

6. Rip up about 5 – 1″ x 2″ pieces of tea for two designer series paper – be creative.  I also used a doilie to add lace.

7. Make your collage: Using your silicone mat, place snail adhesive on each ripped piece of tea for two designer paper… arrange on the very vanilla cardstock… be creative here and also glue your paper doilie on top… try not to make the collage too thick since the framelet die needs to cut through…

8. Take your dress form shape framelet die from the All Dressed Up framelets and place on collage and then cut out.

9. Take your so saffron oval cardstock and apply glitter to the entire shape.

10. Take the so saffron taffeta ribbon and make a pretty bow (trick: to make beautiful bow tails, cut the tails holding the bow upside down)

11. Take a flower from the vanilla 5/8″ flower trim (spring catalog) and ink it lightly with calypso coral ink and then place a large pearl in the middle of the flower.

12. Assemble the card:

– Center and affix the 3 3/4″ x 5″ natural composition specialty designer series paper onto the calypso coral 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card using snail adhesive or glue dots.

– Take the so saffron glittered oval cardstock and affix it to the larger calypso coral oval cardstock so that it is centered and framed.

– Take the collage dress form you made in step 7 and place two stampin dimensions on the back.  Add mono adhesive glue to each stampin dimensional and then glue onto the so saffron oval.  The bottom of the dress from will be outside the ovals and that is ok!

– Take the vanilla 5/8″ flower that you inked up with calypso coral ink and place in middle of dress form.  I used a mini glue dot to do this.

– Affix the Ovals with the collage dress form to the 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card… the bottom of the dress form should be just above the bottom edge of the 3 3/4″ x 5″ natural composition specialty designer series paper.

– Affix the so saffron bow to the bottom of the dress form stand so that it is aligned with the bottom of the ovals.

– Add a pearl necklace to the dress form by using the smallest pearls in the basic pearl sheet.

– Add a few pearls of various sizes to the top left and bottom right corner of the 3 3/4″ x 5″ natural composition specialty designer series paper.

Inkspirations:

– Try different colored designer series paper for the collage… or try using papers from magazines…

– Add a jewelry tag with the word love using the love stamp from tiny tags stamp set.

Enjoy and hope YOU can try this one… it is very easy and quick…
